Ford has released the first images of the all-new Mondeo ahead of its world debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The dramatic all-new Mondeo is designed to raise customers' expectations for a car in this class through a combination of style, dynamics and technology. During its life, the Mondeo has appeared every year in the nation's top 10 favourite cars. A total of over four million Mondeo models have been built at the Genk plant since launch in 1993 with more than 1.5 million of those being sold in the UK."The exciting new Mondeo is very important to us", said Roelant de Waard, Ford of Britain's Chairman and Managing Director. "It's probably the most elegant car we've ever launched, and it's certainly the most technologically-advanced. Like the S-MAX, Car of the Year 2007, the new Mondeo will attract many new customers to our showrooms as well as delighting our loyal UK customer base," he said.New Mondeo DesignThe new Mondeo is striking and unmistakably a member of the Ford family. It is the latest and most advanced expression of Ford's 'kinetic design'.The distinctive front end has chamfered corners and a deep offset between the top of the bonnet and the front wings. A muscular shoulder line runs through the side of the car to a high point at the rear.Distinctive rear lamps also feature carefully designed graphics that enhance the overall feeling of premium quality. A strong undercut line runs from the bold front wing wheel lips through the side of the car. Under this, full surfacing extends down to strong rocker panels to ensure the vehicle maintains a dynamic road presence. The spacious interior shares the same 'kinetic design' exterior language as the exterior. The driver will enjoy the 'cockpit' driving position as the higher beltline and flow-through centre console combine to enhance the cosseted feeling for front seat occupants.New levels of craftsmanship are evident throughout. For example, careful use of 'piano black' interior styling accents creates interest and a pleasing feel to key touch areas. Soft-touch material and ambient lighting is used extensively throughout the cabin to emphasise its quality and refinement.New Mondeo ChoiceThe Ford Mondeo range has always offered a wide choice for customers, and the new Mondeo is no exception. Standard equipment across the range includes Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Ford Easyfuel capless refuelling with fuel inhibitor to prevent misfuelling, Thatcham Cat. 1 alarm, air conditioning, 'follow-me-home' lights, trip computer and an MP3 connector socket.Three distinct bodystyles – a classic four-door, a stylish and flexible five-door and the capacious Estate – will all be available from launch.
For each body style, four distinct series are available: the Edge, which provides a high level of standard equipment essential for business and family needs; the contemporary Zetec series, and, at the top of the range, the Ghia and Titanium X models. These flagship models offer a choice of premium quality details. While the Ghia represents classic luxury, with extensive use of chrome and wood ornamentation inside, the Titanium model will appeal to those customers favouring a more contemporary, technology flavour.New Technologies for Driver AssistanceAdvanced new driver-focused technologies are available, and include keyless entry and keyless start with "Ford Power" start button, new Ford "Convers+" Human Machine Interface (HMI) instrument display, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Alert, Interactive Vehicle Dynamics Control with Hill Launch Assist, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System .

Tags: Geiger tuning Ford Ford MustangHow much excitement and sporty character can the current Ford Mustang really offer? The answer to this question delivers 520 hp / 382.7 kW, reaches a top speed of 287 km/h, and in addition to racing-inspired body styling painted a hot GeigerCars.de orange offers an exclusive interior with 10,000-watt sound system. The show car Mustang GT 520 from GeigerCars.de, Europe’s leading tuner of American automobiles, demonstrates the true potential of the reborn sports car legend.More power through more displacement and supercharge the whole thing to boot is the recipe behind GeigerCars.de’s performance tuning of the Mustang GT V8 engine. Displacement was increased from 4.6 to 5.2 liters, and the engine was extensively reworked. Precision-machining of both cylinder heads, installing sport camshafts and reinforcing the valvetrain are part of the GeigerCars.de power treatment as is a belt-driven supercharger with generously dimensioned intercooler. A fully stainless-steel high-performance sport exhaust system with high-performance manifold and metal catalysts round out the engine conversion. In this guise the eight-cylinder engine produces a proud maximum power output of 520 hp / 382.7 kW, up from stock 300 hp / 220 kW. The peak torque of 563 Nm is available at 4,730 rpm.
Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified six-speed manual gearbox and a sport clutch. The GeigerCars.de Mustang GT 520 delivers exceptional performance: The sprint from 0 – 100 km/h takes just 4.2 seconds; top speed is 287 km/h. For an optimal supply of cooling and intake air the Munich tuner has also developed a special hood with large air dams. The GeigerCars.de GT 520 engine was created during the development of the supercharger kit for the Ford Mustang GT, which will be available this fall. It boosts power output of the normal V8 engine to 412 hp / 303 kW. Already on sale is the GeigerCars.de stainless-steel sport exhaust that is also used on the show car. This exhaust system not only delivers a more exciting exhaust note but also more spectacular looks with its two large chromed tailpipes.Another GeigerCars.de innovation is the sporty aerodynamic-enhancement kit that is designed to fit both body styles of the current Mustang, convertible and coupe. The new front fascia was designed to be easily exchanged for the production bumper, thanks to its precise fit and the retention of the original mounting points. The large oval air dam ensures ample supply of cooling air for all radiators and coolers. The lateral openings were shaped to optimize the air flow for best possible brake cooling. The integrated front spoiler reduces lift on the front axle. The GeigerCars.de rear fascia with integrated diffuser is also designed as a replacement part. Together with a large adjustable wing it produces notably more downforce on the rear axle than the production car.
The GeigerCars.de rocker panels round out the sport package for the latest Mustang models.

three Ford GT40s swept through the circuit’s final corner towards the finish. With their headlamp beams reflecting off the rain-soaked tarmac, they closed ranks to complete the race only feet apart. The crowd roared, the chequered flag waved and in the stand above the pits Henry Ford II savoured the most famous motor racing victory in the history of the company his grandfather had started 63 years earlier. The mighty Ferrari team with its great Le Mans record had been comprehensively beaten. It was one of the proudest moments in Ford’s long motor sport history.

The route to victoryIt had been a long, hard journey to victory - much longer than the mere 24 hours of the race. Three years earlier, Enzo Ferrari had quietly investigated selling his business to Ford, which had wanted to add high performance lustre to its public image. The deal fell through and Ford’s response was to set up a special vehicles department to develop its own high performance cars for road and racetrack.British engineer Eric Broadley was appointed to design and build a GT car to take on Ferrari. John Wyer, formerly Aston Martin’s racing manager, was recruited to run the team, and Carroll Shelby, creator of the charismatic Ford-powered AC Cobra, would race and promote the car.The team moved fast: by late summer 1963 the chassis was under development and shake-down tests had been held at Goodwood, Brands Hatch and Monza, and by the autumn enough data had been gathered to build the new car.The first performance tests were at the Le Mans spring practice in April 1964, where the car’s highly impressive top speed took it into new aerodynamic realms, though it quickly became apparent that some form of spoiler would be necessary. The GT40, complete with spoiler, made its race debut the following month at the Nürburgring in the hands of Graham Hill and Bruce McLaren. It retired early but the signs were promising. The 1965 season saw some team changes, with Carroll Shelby running the racing and John Wyer starting work on building
